Our Structure

Poetry Education and Remote Learning Pty Ltd (the Company) is a proprietary limited company registered under the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth) with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC). The Company operates under a corporate structure overseen by its director(s) in accordance with relevant governance and regulatory requirements. The Company is the registered holder of the business name Nguzu Aka, under which it conducts certain activities, including advocacy and community focused initiatives. The Company is a separate legal entity and maintains its own rights and obligations independent of its directors, shareholders and individuals associated with its activities.

Our Purpose

As an Indigenous led organisation we deliver culturally grounded educational programs for learners of all ages across two business units. Our programs and services are designed so that it can be delivered specifically in Torres Strait Islander language systems and Indigenous place based knowledge derived from Northern Peninsula Area and Zenadth Kes (Torres Strait Islands).

Our Vision

To cultivate a community where poetry, financial literacy and social advocacy can grow through accessible learning experiences, particularly within rural & remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across Queensland.

Nguzu Aka offers translation service grounded in care, dignity and cultural responsibility. Nguzu Aka is not a separate company meaning all services are delivered under the legal and governance framework of the Company.

Our Story

Nguzu Aka is translated in Kala Lagaw Ya as My Grandmother. The name reflects where this work begins and everything we do is guided by Indigenous leadership and cultural knowledge.

What began as guidance has become direction. This work carries her legacy.
